ADHD and Learning Disabilities

ADHD is not a learning disability (LD). But, unfortunately for people with ADHD, there is a higher chance that they will also have an accompanying LD or more. Yup. It sucks. I happen to have two; Dyslexia with a splash of Auditory Processing Disorder.

According to this article in Attitude, they say that half the kids with ADHD also have a learning disability. I have no way to validate that but, to be honest, I have no reason to doubt it. Not all of our kids have a learning disability, but let’s just say that the term “lesdyxia” is common in our house; and it’s generally uttered in frustration.

I want to shout this out loud: LEARNING DISABILITIES IS NOT IN ANYWAY RELATED TO A PERSONS INTELLIGENCE OR APTITUDE. But, if you are not careful, they can most certainly lead to low self-esteem and depression. Especially so in children. But knowing is half the battle. It takes me 3 times longer to read and comprehend a paragraph than it does my wife. But my attitude is “that’s just the way it is”. It doesn’t frustrate me or

5- Are amber teething necklaces (or any necklaces) safe for babies to wear? No. There has been at least one strangulation death specifically caused by an amber necklace and other choking and strangulation deaths due to other forms of jewelry.-
